A year ago I took a solo adventure to Los Angeles; my first time to California ever. I rented a dodge challenger (I'm a hot rod mama) and drove the open road towards Malibu, stopping to explore along the way.
Taking this trip for myself was essential in finding out just how far I'll go and to really jump head first into the deep waters of self exploration. I put myself out there again to learn and grow from a beautiful community of women, connecting on a level I wasn't used to. I've always been categorized as extrovert but walk a fine line of shyness. We slept in close quarters among the mountaintops and camped out under the moon of Malibu. I guess it's totally considered "glamping" when you have an Airstream and sweet ass Teepee involved, drank wine from a local organic co op and ate tacos where Harry Styles frequents. But don't worry, we showered outside among the bushes in a make shift shower (thank goodness it was relatively warm during the day).
Ya know that song, "Nothing compares to you...", yea that's exactly how I feel about the west coast sun. Every sunrise & sunset along the coast of California exudes a new natural wonder, with bursts of warm colorful light. Literally, nothing could compare to it, ever. It's a sun that I still long for a year later and will continue to for the rest of my days. I now know why people pick up everything and head there for a new start to something great.
I only had the privilege of being there for a very short weekend and while I was, I had the time of my life and the best experience I could have gotten from it. With thousands of images to turn through, I finally came up with a sweet little compilation of the styled shoot that I attended. The day and workshop flew by and some parts I can't even remember because I was moving so fast. But what I do remember is the euphoric feeling that I felt... like I was finally here. I was finally doing what I love and want to do forever. I've always known what I wanted and I've always know I am a photographer. In fact, I've spent so much money and time studying it for years. And this moment, that day, it all just felt so right.
I hope you fall in love with California's bohemian vibes through this pretty styled shoot. If not, then at least I hope you feel warm browsing through this sunny love story of these two beautiful real couples. Also, take a chance to visit each of the vendors who collaborated on this magic. They truly are all so incredibly talented and I hope one day to work with each one of them again!
